Seegrid

Vision-guided AMRs for autonomous pallet transport in manufacturing

AGV Systems Manufacturer

Seegrid makes vision-guided vehicles (VGVs) that navigate autonomously without wires, lasers, or QR codes — using 3D cameras and AI to understand their environment. Strong in high-mix manufacturing and brownfield DCs.

Best for
Brownfield manufacturing and DC operations needing pallet transport without infrastructure changes
Not for
Precision docking applications or operations needing non-pallet transport

Practitioner analysis

Deployment reality

Seegrid has the longest commercial AMR track record in North American manufacturing — they were doing autonomous pallet movement before AMR was a mainstream category. Their vision-based navigation (vs. laser SLAM) has advantages in environments with tall racking and infrastructure that confuses lidar. Deployments at automotive and heavy manufacturing sites are mature.

What the vendor won't tell you

Seegrid's vision navigation requires a map-training process that takes time and needs to be repeated if infrastructure changes significantly. If your facility layout changes frequently, factor in the re-mapping cost. Their throughput per robot is lower than some competitors — model your fleet size requirement carefully.

Best environments

Automotive, aerospace, and heavy manufacturing internal logistics where proven uptime and obstacle detection in complex environments matter more than top-end speed.

Watch-outs

Evaluate their current competitive position carefully — the AMR market has moved fast and some newer competitors have closed the technology gap.
